Receiving energy healing should be a soothing experience. The initial session, lasting up to two hours, typically begins with a thorough health history, as well as a discussion of the conditions for which you are seeking relief. The practitioner will likely ask you about any previous medical problems in addition to learning about your diet and exercise habits, your home and work life, and your general mental and emotional health. Follow-up sessions will include feedback from findings related to the previous session and your current situation.
The practitioner will then do an energy assessment, using various techniques that can reveal the major areas of imbalance. Among the assessment methods that may be used are body scanning (hands on or off the body) or the use of a pendulum to read the energy flow at each chakra.
A practitioner may specialize in one method of energy healing or may be able to provide various therapies. At In Good Hands, these include hands-on healing techniques as well as the use of aromatherapy. Depending on your ailment, referral to an acupuncturist, chiropractor, osteopath, naturapath or behavioral health practitioner for additional therapy may be suggested.
Follow-up sessions usually last about an hour. A few sessions may be all that are needed for basic stress reduction, with follow-up sessions scheduled, if necessary. For the treatment of chronic diseases, long-term treatment, often in conjunction with a conventional medical doctor and/or one or more other medical practitioners, (e.g., naturopath, osteopath, chiropractor), may be required.
During the session, the client may feel a warm sensation and sometimes even a tingling or vibration. It is very common for a person to feel relaxed, comforted and fall asleep during a session. Sometimes after a session, a client may feel a little disoriented and, ideally, should rest until they are able to resume normal activities. Most often, the client is able to return to their daily routine feeling relaxed and refreshed. It is suggested that you drink lots of water and refrain from strenuous activity and heavy exercise for 6-24 hours following a treatment.
